From Borrowed Brander to Working with "Top Brands"

Nineteen years ago, amidst the snow-laden peaks of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR), a simple act of personalization birthed a legacy. Forest “Gage” Reichert, a seasoned ski instructor since 1992, borrowed a friend’s brander and etched the resort’s iconic bucking bronco symbol onto the backside of his leather gloves. Little did he know, this small gesture would evolve into something remarkable.

Today, Reichert stands as the visionary behind G2 Gloves (www.G2gloves.com), serving as its founder, president, brander, and quality-control supervisor. The name "G2" mirrors his own initials, with an added nod to his son, Griffon. From humble beginnings, G2 Gloves now graces stores across the Mountain West and enjoys a global presence online, offering a range of no-frills, branded gloves crafted from elkskin, deerskin, cowhide, and pigskin.

What began with the bronco symbol burgeoned into a diverse portfolio. Reichert, who doubles as a fly-fishing guide when not on the slopes, now spends his downtime branding not just broncos, but also skiers, fish, and custom logos onto gloves. In 2012 alone, he branded and sold over three thousand pairs.

Reflecting on the genesis of G2 Gloves, Reichert recalls how it all stemmed from the Jackson Hole Ski School locker room. With a small electric branding iron lent by his friend Chris Leveroni, Reichert transformed his sturdy Kinco work gloves into conversation starters. Word spread quickly, and soon, friends and strangers alike clamored for their own personalized pairs. Recognizing the potential, Reichert embraced the venture wholeheartedly, navigating the intricacies of branding licenses and royalties along the way.

G2 Gloves resonate with both locals and visitors alike. For visitors, it offers a tangible connection to their Jackson Hole experience, far more enduring than typical souvenir fare. For locals, it presents a practical and affordable solution to the perennial need for durable ski gloves in the rugged terrain of Wyoming's mountains.

While the bucking bronco remains the quintessential emblem of G2 Gloves, Reichert has diversified his offerings, accommodating names, skiers, and fish enthusiasts alike. Collaborations with renowned establishments like Exum Mountain Guides and Wyoming Whiskey underscore the brand's growing appeal beyond the slopes of Jackson Hole.

As G2 Gloves continues to carve its niche, Reichert's vision extends further, envisioning ski-area-specific artwork adorning gloves in shops across the Western frontier. Already a staple in renowned resorts like Vail, Sun Valley, and Lake Tahoe, G2 Gloves epitomize the union of functionality, individuality, and Wyoming's untamed spirit.

Discover G2 Gloves at select establishments in Jackson Hole, including Hungry Jack’s, The Bridger Center, and Teton Village Sports, and embrace the warmth and authenticity they bring to every adventure.
